Frequently Asked Questions

We hope you can find the answers to your questions here, if not, feel free to send us an email with your enquiry. We aim to respond as quick as we can, however, as a small non-for-profit we can’t always guarantee a rapid response.

How do I join PEA as a volunteer?

Sign up to our mailing list via plymouthenvironmentalaction@hotmail.co.uk or book an event.

Do you offer work experience/placements/internships?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer any of these as we are a volunteer led organisation. This means we don’t have enough time to ensure you receive the right amount of work and experience. You would, however, be welcome to join our events as a volunteer. Send us an email via plymouthenvironmentalaction@hotmail.co.uk to sign up.

What do I need to bring to events?

You will need to bring:

  • Appropriate clothing for the weather and event (raincoats, hiking boots, wellies, gloves).

  • Some lunch if it is a long event, we try to supply tea and biscuits.

We provide the tools.

“I am assisting/looking after someone who has mental health issues/learning difficulties/special needs (SEND), can they volunteer with PEA?”

Unfortunately, due to being a volunteer led non-for profit, our team doesn’t have the appropriate training or capabilities to appropriately deal with anyone who needs any type of assistance. If a carer/assistant is happy to attend and stay present for the entire event to support said person, then you are welcome to join.

How is PEA funded?

We have a section of our committee who work hard to put together applications to apply for funding. Our money comes from grants provided by people supporting environmental aid. The process to apply for funding is long , difficult and not always successful but helps to keep PEA alive! We need funding to keep running events and ensure our equipment is safe and up to date.
